My name is Melissa. Having been born, raised, and having fallen in love in SLO I'm so excited to spend my days freezing those same special moments here for others.
People, color, life and light exhilarate me. And wrapping all of that up in a photo, well, that's what I live for. Wanna get to know more? Send me an email, I'd love to get to know you too.

Children Photography | Atascadero - Ashlyn

This little tiny bundle of love is my great niece. Am I biased in thinking that she is so perfectly adorable?? Or am I right? Let's go with I'm right.
I was there for her mother's maternity pictures, there for the birth - at which I passed out twice (what can I say... I'm not good with blood), for newborn pictures. I honestly thought that was going to be the highlight, the newborn pictures. But this session was infinitely better!
Ashlyn has grown so much in the last three months! She has personality, she's attentive, she smiles ALL the time! It's fantastic!

Also, the changes from her last shoot to this really exemplifies why my Watch Me Grow full package includes a shoot every three months for the first year. There are so many changes it's really important to remember each stage.

We went to several locations and between each one she'd fall asleep and was not the happiest when we woke her up. But we'd smile and coo at her and she'd be right back to smiles.
She comes from a gorgeous family, so it should be no surprise that she's beautiful, but getting to claim her as my great niece makes me think she's a little extra beautiful =)

Enjoy!

And feel free to leave comments, they make me smile!

Engagement Photography | Julie and Shane

Julie is one of my best friends from college at Point Loma Nazarene University. At first we were coworkers, then we were coworkers at two jobs, then slowly we became friends (ok, it actually happened kind of fast after we had that second job together, all...summer.... long... )then we were great friends all year and roommates and coworkers at the slowest job on earth the next summer (is it sad that I sometimes miss that job??).

Now we live an unfortunate 6 hours away instead of 6 minutes and I don't get to see her nearly often enough. I did however have the pleasure of going out to Yucca at the end of November to visit her, meet her boyfriend and do couple photos for them. With the busy holiday season the pictures took a while to finish, but I'd say my timing was pretty darn good since they just got engaged on Christmas! =) Now I get to post it and brag about their engagement!!

Aren't they a gorgeous couple?! And SUCH characters, laughing and making faces the whole time. A perfect pair.

It was SO much fun to do your photos! Can't wait till the wedding =)

Newborn Photographer Paso Robles | Audrey

Audrey was sooo tiny! And she's just as adorable as her older brother and mother. Such a gorgeous family!
She's 13 days old here, and even though she's so tiny she's already quite strong! She was wide awake for the whole session and a bit fussy, but we still got some cute ones.
This was just a mini indoor session since it was driving rain that day. We'll reschedule the main session soon, so keep an eye out for that one.

Enjoy!

I think this one is adorable, with her crossing her legs!

Isn't her little tongue so cute?!

My Amazing Husband

So Christmas came and went (it was fantastic) but left me miserably sick.

Luckily I have an amazing husband who made me breakfast in bed since I seem unable to leave bed.

Doesn't it look amazing?! (Special thanks to my Aunt Donna Jordan who got us the lap tables =) )

So good to me!

I hope everyone else's day after Christmas is going a bit better than mine =)

Oh and did I mention? The husband got me a new lens for Christmas! VERY exiting! Definitely enjoying the wide angle =)

Merry Christmas!!

Me and my husband Erik are celebrating our first Christmas together (having been married almost 6 months now).
I surprised him after a shoot one day by stopping off and buying a tree and decorations before coming home. Before he came downstairs I set up the whole tree and light and put his first two presents under the tree. =)
Having a tree really put our house in the Christmas mood!!
Here are some pictures of our very first Xmas - and then some of my favorite ornaments form my friend Dani's tree.

Enjoy! And Merry Christmas to you all as well!

This was Erik's first present that I let him open early. Our first Christmas ornament. =)

These ornaments were from my friends tree. It's actually a black Christmas tree but looks surprisingly Christmasy!

More blog posts to be coming. =)

Hannah and Dusty

So, I have been really slacking on the blogging, more from too much work than not enough. Holidays are a crazy time for photography with annual family photos (I highly recommend doing photos each year by the way!) and enough print orders to cover all counter space in my house!

Here is a recent couple, just finishing up their photos tonight. There are a TON of great ones, but here are just a few of my favorites!

Feels great to be able to send this off before the holidays!!!

Many new changes coming in the new year. And possibly a little facelift for the blog here =)
